We get a healthy dose of scepticism about solar around here - usually from people who've heard a horror story about a cheap install or a pushy door-to-door sales pitch. Fair enough. So here's the honest picture of what solar does and doesn't do for homes in our region.
Does our climate actually suit solar?
Yes. North East Victoria gets strong generation for most of the year, and panels are more efficient in our cooler temperatures than in serious heat. Winter output drops, but a correctly sized system is designed around your annual usage, not the best month.
The rebates do the heavy lifting
Federal small-scale technology certificates (STCs) come off the price of every eligible install up front, and Victorian schemes can stack on top for eligible households. As CEC-accredited installers we stay across the current schemes and handle the paperwork - the discounts land in the quote, and you simply pay the difference.
What actually determines your payback
Payback for a well-sized system typically lands in the 3-6 year range, and these are the levers that move it:
- How much power you use during daylight hours - self-consumption beats feed-in every time
- System size matched to your usage, not the biggest array that fits on the roof
- Panel orientation and shading - things we assess properly on a site visit
- Quality of the inverter and the install itself - the cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest system
Our approach
We design and install the system for your home - no subcontracted sales teams, no pressure. The same crew that quotes it installs it, and we're local, so we're here for the life of the system, not just the handover. If solar doesn't stack up for your place, we'll tell you that too.
